Catzware today announced that its previously cancelled video game, Smash Microsoft, has been returned from cancellation complete with a new version number featuring full Windows 7 support. The new version, 1.1, adds not only fixes for some minor bugs that have plagued the program since its initial release, but also adds full support for Windows 7. Catzware stated that the game has been returned “in memory of Paul Clarke” who passed away this last July. Smash Microsoft was designed by Paul in 2009 and became Catzware’s first video game when it was released that same year. The game was cancelled in June 2010 due to limited popularity. In fact, Catzware stated that the game was less popular than the one other title that was cancelled at the same time, Nothing, but that this could be due to lack of advertising for the title. Catzware stated that they would be putting more effort into “making Smash Microsoft popular” this time around. You can download Smash Microsoft from Catzware’s Software page for free.

Catzware today, for the first time in over a year, has released a brand new program called DownIMG. The program, which is advertised as a “complete successor to Image Xplorer and Image Xplorer Lite”, not only combines all of the features of the two aforementioned programs but also adds many more to create an excellent all-in-one way to download and view images without using your browser. Since the new program combines all of the functions of Image Xplorer and Image Xplorer Lite, these two programs have been cancelled and are no longer available for download. You can download the new DownIMG on the Catzware Software page. It should be noted that this is not only Catzware’s first program of 2011, but also their first program to be officially compatible with Windows 7 and the last program Paul Clarke was involved with prior to his passing this July.

Paul contributed to a lot here at Catzware, including developing the now cancelled video game Smash Microsoft as well as beta testing nearly all of our programs. He had also been working on another game since last year which has not yet been released because it is still not finished. Due to his passing, we don't know if we will ever be able to release the new game or not. We will, however, be returning Smash Microsoft as a tribute to Paul Clarke and to remember him by. This will also be our first ever software title to be returned after being cancelled. We will release a new press release when the title has been successfully returned from cancellation but until then, it will remain cancelled.

We would also like to announce that we are currently working on many new and exciting projects here at Catzware, including new programs and major updates to old ones. The day before Paul’s death, he was beta testing one of our new programs which was to be released during the week of July 24th. Due to his passing the program has been delayed.

Although not many details have been released yet as to the exact specifics and plans for Catzware’s upcoming web design service, the company did say that the service would be a premium service, not free like all of their current software titles, however, the prices would be “so amazing” that they would appear free when compared to “any” other website design prices on the planet. The company also said that they would be limiting certain things and would not work with certain forms of web technologies, notably Adobe Flash. Catzware president Justin Graziano announcement is as follows “I’m very excited to announce that Catzware will indeed be entering into the web development industry, and this will be our first “service”, as we call them, with more to come in the future. I can’t say much else about this or any other upcoming services but I will say that this will be our first premium (pay) product, but at such an amazing price you will think it’s free compared to ANY other web development prices and, we will not be utilizing outdated and obsolete technologies like Adobe Flash in any way.”

The reason given is as follows “neither program meets the Catzware Quality Guidelines of 2010 which have recently been put into effect for all Catzware programs”. Catzware has stated that they are currently in the process of revamping their software and that programs they do not feel meet their Quality Guidelines list will be cancelled. Cancelled programs will no longer be available for download and all support for them is also terminated. And, this is not just a program, this is their first game. The game, called Smash Microsoft, is an arcade-style action game similar to Space Invaders, but with a twist! Rather then space ships, you’ve got Microsoft products. When asked why they chose Microsoft products, Catzware replied “Why take out your anger on a ship when you can take it out on a major corporation!”. The game is available as a free download from the Catzware website.
